About this drive
Kedarnath, one of the holiest pilgrimage sites in India, attracts lakhs of devotees each year, seeking spiritual solace in the Himalayas. In 2024 alone, over 16.5 lakh pilgrims visited this sacred site, making it the most visited among the Char Dham shrines. However, this overwhelming footfall is pushing Kedarnath’s fragile ecosystem to the brink of collapse. On peak days, over 30,000 visitors trek to the shrine, leaving behind more than 20,000 plastic waste items daily—from plastic bottles to food wrappers. In the past year alone, Kedarnath generated a staggering 584 metric tons of waste, the highest among all Char Dham sites. This unchecked pollution is choking the pristine rivers, harming wildlife, and tarnishing the beauty of the mountains. Healing Himalayas is taking a stand to protect this sacred land—but we can’t do it alone. We need dedicated volunteers who are ready to give back to the Himalayas by joining our Kedarnath Clean-Up Drives
