For Priya Thakur, the hospitality blueprint took shape in 2015. Born and brought up in Himachal Pradesh and chasing a corporate career in Mumbai, she always yearned to retire to her roots. “Living in big cities, with a hectic job, and doing the same mundane stuff on a daily basis wasn’t exciting anymore,” Thats when she moved back to Manali after being in the corporate world for about 15 years. Her last position held was as Vice President -PVR cinemas (sales & marketing)
After running hotel operations for a couple of years she realised that the hospitality industry is one of the largest contributors in leaving significant carbon footprints on the environment. They started making minor modifications in there resorts & restaurants which was more ecologically friendly & started practicing the 3 R’s of reduce, recycle & reuse
She also realised that not all businesses were just about making profits, but to also giving back to society. The sheer joy of giving back is an experience beyond words. Engagement in CSR should be motivated not only with a focus on return on investment but a genuine desire to create a positive change on the society. Thats when she initiated to participate with Healing Himalayas in there initiatives.
